Bad advice…. We love Myrtle Beach…We are going to buy a second home there and trust me we will be doing a lot of the same things as we do when we vacation. I love the Ocean and the physical fitness by swimming and walking miles. I’m 57 feel 30 because we are active. P.s Baby Back ribs are bad for you. My favorite restaurant there is Boardwalk Billie’s.

Talk about the awful traffic during the entire summer season. My brother in law lived there traffic was terrible during vacation season which in Myrtle Beach is about 9 months out of the year

Pawleys Island is a much better place than MB. We moved here from San Diego and love it. The weather isn’t as nice as San Diego but the people are nice and the cost of living is 35% less. And we don’t have that California oppressive gvmnt breathing down our backs every day. FYI; we like to drive an hour south to shop in Mount Pleasant. The drive is traffic free and everything is down there; Costco, Trader Joe’s, The Gap, Nordstrom Rack, Target, Hobby Lobby, et al.

Only issues i have with south end of Myrtle are the slum motels, and areas around them..Of course the many criminal tourist..

Pontoon Boat rides on the waccama river from the river walk is a ripoff $30 pp for 1 1 1/2 hr to 2 hr tour that explains nothing, and was a little less than an hour long. Check them all out before picking one, because they all are different. I hear that the one in Little rive is better, but this was embarassing to tak visitors on.

I see this is an older video, but i live in greenwood, roughly 4 hours and been visiting mb ever since i was a kid. I was actually there for the tornado outbreak july 4 week in 2001. Been thinking about moving. Im tired of plant work, and looking to pay cash for a place even if its living full time in a campground since its just me and my dogs. Of course i would have to sell some things and possibly my current home, but its time for a change.

The south is laid back. Go live in Phila, Reading, NJ and pay high taxes, high gas price etc. And NY, the city, everything is high.

If that's true about tourism being east of hwy 17, then how come the whole Carolina Forest area has become an absolute nightmare traffic-wise?! I live in the Dunes east of 17 and I'd NEVER move to Carolina Forest! Pretty dubious real estate advice, dude...

It was in the 80s and humid this "spring". I live in Barefoot Resort. We had bears til the construction amped up (couldn't put out bird feeders cause the bears loved them). One thing I've never seen here are chipmunks. The worst is when the monster roach is on the ceiling cause when you hit it, you don't know where it's gonna fall and those suckers are fast! I could stand a small Jersey roach, but not these big ones. My vote would be for Cherry Grove - nicer homes, quieter beaches.

I disagree about parasailing. It's not something I would do, but to each his own. You don't say it's overpriced, you don't say they let you go up and then bring you right back down, it just sounds like you think nobody should want to go parasailing. I would replace that one with the places that want to rent you a so-called "cool" car (Hummer, Mustang, etc.) for an hour to cruise the boulevard. That's not really a tourist trap, it's an idiot trap.

You didn’t mention the "palmetto bugs" (aka giant roaches)!

Hi Jeremy, you should also mention the issues of finding medical people here in the Grand Strand area due to the lack of doctors here. Dental is much better now than just 10 years ago, but medical slants more towards the clinics rather then the traditional doctor office most of us are accustomed.

1. looking at public stats one can see the house prices in Myrtle Beach are coming down in 2024 and are basically flat from 2022. With the end of remote work everyone knows what that means - just look at Florida. What is going to happen - no one knows. On a separate note, even if the "price" is the same, the builders are now offering 10-20K of incentives. Is it the same as prices coming down? 2. Interest rate can go up as well as down or most likely stay here for longer (the base scenario right now). That means mortgages are likely to stay as expensive. And no, it does not depend on election - Fed has only two mandates - price stability and employment.

I've been here 4 years. Maybe just 2 months I run ac, and maybe 2 months running furnace. Utilities are cheaper than up north. Only issue is no major interstate within 65 miles of MB. Bugs are not bad because the lizards take care of them. I'm within 2 miles of the beach so it stays green pretty much year round.
